About me
I obtained my Bachelor of Nursing in 1996 and my Master of Nursing in 2000. I was board certified as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in 2001. I have over 15 years of active practice experience providing a full range of obstetric and gynecological care in several practices and agencies in the Richmond area. In 2021 I opened my own practice to focus on certain aspects of women’s health that adolescent and adult women prioritized when they came for care. I knew that to fully address these health priorities and help my patients with finding the best treatment we needed time as these sensitive concerns require incorporating behavior with medicine to address and treat effectively.
I provide a specialized practice for adolescent and adult women managing and treating:
- Medical Weight Management
- Mood Fluctuations
- PMS, Perimenopause and Menopause
- Anxiety, Depression, Stress Management
- Sexual Health and Concerns
These types of health concerns can be complex and often are sensitive to discuss. I approach these concerns with compassion and in an atmosphere that is accepting, comfortable, unhurried and supportive. My style is warm, informal, and encouraging. I am a wife and working mother and I understand many of the challenges and choices confronting my patients.
In addition to my Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner certification, I have certification in treatment of Obesity Medicine through the Obesity Medicine Association and certification as a Menopausal Nurse Practitioner through The Menopause Society. I am a member of the Obesity Medicine Association, The Menopause Society, International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
I accept insurance and am credentialed with Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare/Optum, Humana, Optima/ Sentara, Medicaid, and Medicare.
About my practice
I am a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and have been practicing in the Richmond area since 2001. I opened my own practice in 2021 providing medical weight management and hormonal regulation for adolescent and adult women. My services include treatment of weight concerns, mood fluctuations, PMS, perimenopause, menopause, anxiety, depression, stress management and sexual health.
My practice is different than most providers treating women’s health concerns. It is discussion based with a limited physical exam including height, weight, blood pressure measurements and other anthropometric measurements pending the patient’s concern. An initial appointment is approximately 1 hour with follow up appointments ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour. My style of practice is relaxed, warm, compassionate, and comprehensive. I utilize shared decision making, working with my patients to help them achieve the results they want. I provide both in office and telehealth visits. I am considered a primary health care provider however my services do not include annual preventative exams, internal exams, obstetrical care, in office testing or procedures. My patients still need a PCP for their general health care. I use a patient portal and ask that my patients use the portal for all communication needs. This allows for patient information to be in one protected location and documented in the chart record.
My staff includes a virtual assistant who is available to help with any concerns during office hours. Because I am the sole provider in my practice, please allow me 48 hours to respond to your concerns and questions. I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
I do not offer urgent or emergency care. Any urgent or emergency care needs to be addressed by an urgent care provider or by calling 911.
